The Journey
Having retired from the corporate world after 35yrs, pottery has finally gotten a chance to be in my daily life. The pottery journey began 32 years ago in Charlotte N.C. as a result of a trip my now wife Byrd took me on while we were still dating. Byrd’s love of pottery for many years and especially the potters of Seagrove N.C. set the ball rolling on what is my creative passion. We decided that our love of pottery would lead to trying my hand at the wheel. Having started pottery classes in 1999, the pottery addiction flourished. I learned a lot initially throwing ugly pots and pulling wobbly handles. As one potter enthusiast from class said while battling the ugly pot, “oops it’s perfect.” It was perfect and it has become a theme ever since.
Moving to Western N.C. over 20 years ago we built our studio with the goal of one day, being able to concentrate on what we love. Celticpots was born and it has been moving along at snail’s pace until now. The next journey is the creative one with some “oops it’s perfect” pots.
